Meat (protein) is the most prominent source of taurine, with different meats containing varying amounts, which is one reason why a diet that includes a variety of meats is essential. Our dog food contains a minimum of 80% protein, and our cat food has a protein content of 95%. The difference in protein content between dog and cat food is that dogs can produce some taurine, while cats have a limited ability to produce taurine and must obtain it from their diet, which is why we include heart in all our meals. As a hard-working muscle, it's an excellent source of taurine in its natural form.
