Dogs fed a raw diet typically produce firm poos as the natural ingredients in the food are more digestible, meaning less comes out the other end. Also, raw food doesn't contain unnecessary filler ingredients that can lead to soft poos.
Firm poos help express and empty the anal glands. Some breeds are more prone to anal gland issues, and for some dogs, the smaller size poos that eating a raw diet produces aren't bulky enough to express the glands. In this instance, adding something like Psyllium Husk can help to bulk out poos. Refer to our guide for more advice.
Please seek advice from a vet if your dog is consistently having issues with their anal glands.
